SALUTE TO OUR VETERANS
Quilts of Valor
At our Veterans Day meeting on November 11th, members of the Society honored our veterans for their military service. Society member Kay Blikken, and Norene Bagly, representatives of Suncoast Patriotic Quilters Chapter of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, presented quilts to Robert “Bobby” Cuschleg, an Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient, and Society member David Parhalo, who shared his wartime experiences as a medical helicopter pilot serving in the Viet Nam War.
Sewn by more than 6,000 volunteers from all over the USA, the quilts are given with prayers for comfort and healing. As a former service member herself, Kay knows of the long hours, missed holidays and family milestones, coupled with the stressful situations which military service entails.
Society members extend a special “Thank you” to Bobby and David, to Kay and Norene, and to all our military service members and veterans for your dedicated service to our country!
