Harbor Bluffs, on the water’s edge
August 19, 2024Seven McMullen Brothers, Family 99th Reunion
August 19, 2024The Museum Committee continues to meet two to three times a month at the feed store, sorting, filing and organizing our large collection of historical documents, books and objects. Sandy Stevenson Lutz is our photo expert, diligently identifying and labeling hundreds of images of Largo's people and places.
Our newest volunteers, Donna Morrison Howard, Mary Hodges Wallace, Genie Guerra Johnson and Dinah Rodgers Swanson have started working ·on our latest project - cleaning and inventorying the display cases. We are thrilled to have them on board , with dusters, glass cleaner and checklists at hand to tackle this much needed task!
If you didn't make it to a recent meeting or open house, you haven't had a chance to see the newly refurbished, red white and blue West Coast Garage sign that was rescued from the building before its demolition. Thanks to Largo's Public Works team, it now holds a place of pride on the south wall of the feed store. Come in and take a look at this remnant of Largo history!
The Largo Area Historical Society Sadie Johnson Memorial Scholarship is available to any Largo Senior High School student. The recipient of this scholarship is selected by the Museum Committee from original essays submitted on Largo's history.
The Museum Committee still has much work ahead of us, but we continue to make progress!
